The VT USLI students are having a competitive 20 team "Duration Launch" between some 160 students total! NRVR has been asked to help execute and oversee the launch, and as such this event will be open to NRVR community. Since there is no FAA waiver, we are only clear to launch class-1 (low & medium power) rockets at this event. However, we will have a 1010 (1") rail to do up through G motors and rockets weighing up to 3.3 lbs (1500 grams). Event Type: Sat NAR Class-1/2 launches (model+high power rockets), Sunday TRA Research Launch, Class-1/2 (model + HP-research) launches Launch Details: See VAST Website or below for details, and VAST launch fees/restrictions. The VT AIAA (Aerospace) group is hosting a two day Valley Aerospace group VAST regional launch for and NRV Rocketry and other regional rocketeers! VAST will be overseeing a Sport Launch on Saturday, October 6th, starting around 11:00 am at VT's Kentland Farms. This is a nice launch site that can afford just about any flight you may be accustomed to making. Level 1 and 2 Certification flights (Tripoli or NAR) can be witnessed with advance notice through VAST. See VAST Website for launch fees. May 19th, 2012	DONE	TBD	Time: Saturday, May 19th: 10am - 5pm ET Location: Parking lot of Adventure Hobby, Christiansburg VA. Event Type: Class-1/model launch, "feather weight" saucers only (provided) The local hobby store Adventure Hobby is having its annual Family Fun Festival in their parking lot just off Hwy-460 & N.Franklin (behind the McDonalds). Their full "Family Fun Festival" flier is here. Fast build rocket kits complete with glue and motors will be for sale for $5 in the hobby store, and the NRV Rocketry crew will assist the kids and parents in getting their own rocket assembled, checked out and launched right there in the parking lot! Fun for all ages! NOTE: This is not a full NRVR launch that you can bring your own rockets to. While we will have some large, high power rockets on display -- this launch event is on pavement in a crowded area so we're using special feather weight "saucer rockets" that come down slow and light. We can not launch even traditional Estese A/B/C rockets and definitely no large medium or high power rockets. Vendor provided "feather weight" rockets only please. Insured By:
Feb 4 - 5, 2012	DONE	photos	Saturday, February 4th: 11am - 4pm ET at VT Kentland Farms (map). Saturday’s launch is open to Tripoli and NAR members and their invited guests. Fliers are asked to pay a modest $5.00 fee to support equipment purchase and maintenance. Students and kids under 18 may fly without charge. A limited supply of ‘loaner’ rockets will be available for kids to use if they don’t have their own rockets to fly. Level 1 & 2 Certification flights (Tripoli or NAR) can be witnessed with advance notice. Spectators are also welcome to attend and watch the activities. Sunday, Feb 5th: 10am - 3pm ET. Same location. Sunday’s launch is designated as a Tripoli Research Launch, meaning that kids under the age of 18 may fly model rockets but Adults (over 18) must be a Tripoli member to fly. There are some exceptions so please contact Chuck Neff if you have questions. Tripoli Level 1 & 2 Certification flights can be attempted with advance notice (of rocket & launch details) to our RSO officer. Launch fee is $5.00 for the day. Spectators are still welcome to watch!
