The first launch of 2013 was a cooooold one... or as one NRVR member put it, "A Coldie, but a Goodie!!". Thanks to the VAST group who came down and oversaw the launch activities, The Sky Tech group came up from Wise County (aka "The Wise Guys" ;)... and thanks to all who helped out, including our motor vendor Ken "WildMan-VA" Dunn, without whom it would have been a much less exciting weekend! We had a cold, but awesome two day Sport and Research launch! As seen below, we had several certifications [1] [2], but also some very sad and expensive losses. However, in each case, valuable engineering lessons were learned, and fliers grew in knowledge and wisdom. One of the most spectacular launches was Mike Ficco's (from VAST) big black and white rocket called "Second Derivative", flown on an L-1150! Check out this incredible series of shots!
