New River Valley Rocketeers and Friends,
The Valley AeroSpace Team (VAST) will be hosting a Sport Rocket Launch on Saturday, June 4th, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at its launch site, Jack Mountain Village, near Monterey, Virginia (see directions/map on main page of our website). Rockets ranging from just a few inches to over 8 feet tall will be launched. Kids can bring and fly their own rockets or launch one of the available VAST rockets. The launch fee for adults is $5.00 for the day to help cover associated costs. Spectating is of course free and encouraged! NOTE: A porta-potty will be on site!
For those attending and wanting to fly, dual-deployment is highly recommended for all flights that may exceed 2,000 feet AGL. Level 1 & 2 Certification flights (Tripoli and NAR) can be made with advance notice. Please e-mail vastinfo at valleyaerospace.co m m with request. You can also a dd your project to the Featured Projects ( www.valleyaerospace.com/featuredprojects.html ) page of VAST's web site.
Sunday, June 5th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm will be a Tripoli Research Launch at the same site. Again, dual-deployment is highly recommended for all flights that may exceed 2,000 feet AGL. Level 1 & 2 Certification flights (Tripoli only) can be done with advance notice. Per the Tripoli Research Safety Code, you must be a Tripoli member and at least 18 years of age to fly commercial motors at a research launch. Also, only L2+ Tripoli members are allowed to fly research motors. Launch fee is $5.00. NOTE: Sunday's launch is open for anyone to attend, but only Tripoli members over the age of 18 will be allowed to fly.
Harry from The Dragon's Hoard hobby shop will be on hand with an assortment of kits, motors, and supplies. Remember, VAST members receive a 10% discount on all rocketry related items!
