Tweeks,
We'd be happy to have you attend the launch! This will be the first launch
we've held in a while so I know I'm anxious to get out there!
In the past, we've charged $10.00 for non-members and $5.00 for members for
launch fees. This was to cover the monthly expenses we had associated with
the launch such as the porta-potty (which is about $70.00). We also tried
to keep rockets and motors on hand for the kids in attendance. Building up
the amount of range equipment we had was also a priority. Unfortunately,
nothing in this world is free! Then, with such a diverse range of locations
where VAST's members live, we couldn't always count on the number of people
to show to cover these expenses. I've been the only one to make it before.
So, for this launch and the fact that it's been a while and many people are
making fairly long drives to get there, as the launch director, I decided to
go with a set fee of $5.00 per adult for the launch fees. Kids of course
will fly free. This may change for future events, but for now it is what it
is.
Since the fire department will be coming out and spending the day with us,
I'd like to try and collect some donations for them. A few dollars here and
there can go a long way.
I hope that answers your questions concerning the range fees
As for your Level 1 attempt, I'm the guy to talk to. All the clubs email
comes to me. Since I'm the Prefect, I'm the only one at the moment who can
sign off on cert flights. I'm Level 3 certified so can sign off on all
Level 2 flights and below. The same is true with the NAR. If it is
something you'd like to do, then the more information you can give me, the
better. Rocket size, motor, any design and sim work files, projected
altitude, etc. I can make a much easier decision having all the facts then
just pieces here and there. If you're thinking about certifying and the
June launch, please send me the information as soon as possible for my
review.
We have 4 other Level 1 cert flights planned for that Saturday. Two of them
will be adult L1 while the other two will be Junior Level 1's. So, if you'd
like to fly, let's get the details worked out and go from there!
Feel free to send any questions or comments you may have!

Thanks for sending this out Chuck!
I'm going to try to make the launch myself. I would like to both meet some
of our VAST brethren.. as well as possibly get my L1 cert flight finally
knocked out after all these years of various setbacks (from my old TX flying
days).
If I want to get in the line up of cert launches.. who do I need to talk to?
Just that vast-info address?
Also.. Is the launch fee the same for VAST and non-VAST members?
