[NRV Rocketry] Want To Become A Founding Member of NRV Rocketry?

Hi fellow rocketeers!

New River Valley Rocketry is holding our first ever "membership meeting" on 
Tuesday, Jan 29th from 6-9pm!  That is.. we're inviting everyone in and around 
the area to come check out what's going on with high power rocketry here in 
the New River Valley and VT Aerospace!  In short, we want to meet, greet and 
eat with you all without having to watch out for falling rockets... AND share 
some details about how we're planning on building something great right here 
in the NRV! :)

If you've been to a few of our launches, we DEFINITELY want to meet you, share 
a slice of pizza and shake your hand!  YOU ALL have helped us come this far, 
and we're now ready to make it more official.  We've also made some good 
friends within the Virginia Tech Aerospace group, and thought you might 
like to meet some of them and see what they're doing too!


Meeting Details:

As Bob previously said, the meeting is going to encompass a lot. This first 
NRV Rocketry/VT meeting will include:

 -Cool & REALLY Cool high power rocketry flight videos from around the country
 -Informal meet and greet time with pizza (during a rocketry slide show)
 -Brief overview of the current state of hobby rocketry regarding: 
   -Model vs. high power
   -Safety codes, insurance and regulations, 
 -Overview of model/high power rocket technologies, hardware, electronics
 -Hands on high power rocket displays & related Q&A
 -Vote of NRV Rocketry officers by new club members
 -Upcoming launch details for February and April
 -Free "door prizes" raffle for "valuable rocketry prizes"


Membership Costs and Benefits:
==================================
Leveling with you, we really didn't want to charge membership fees at first, 
but our wives were getting upset with us spending all this money on the club 
and not them. :) Port-a-potties alone are $100/weekend (don't tell my wife!:) 
That being said, we also didn't want to have to charge launch fees as most 
rocket groups regularly do.  So we settled on membership dues, figuring that 
those of us who love the hobby the most are the ones who are most likely to 
pitch in to ensure that dads and kids can ALWAYS come out and fly with us for 
free.  Nice idea eh? :)

The annual membership fee is just $15 for individuals, $20 for families, and 
free for students*! As indicated, the collected fees are to ensure that we can 
continue launching in the New River Valley as they pay for necessities such as 
our launch insurance and prefecture dues with the TRA, much needed big-launch 
port-a-potties, launch signs, club banners, advertising, fire and safety gear 
and other misc out of pocket club expenses.

Since this is our first ever meeting (that's not in the middle of a field 
somewhere;), this is your chance to become a "Founding NRVR Member"!  Annual 
NRVR membership will get you:
-A very special "Founding Member" NRV Rocketry membership card
-A personalized forwarding email address (first.last at nrvr.org)
-Useful Rocket vendor discounts (can pay for your membership in 1yr!)
-"Cool-kid" flight card "scan-in" with your membership card at launches!
 (Monta's idea. tweeks is still working on the technology.. but stay tuned!) 

Other plans for members could include:
-Input on out first club shirt and hat designs :)
-Group convoy trips to BIG national launches  (LDRS, BALLS, etc)
-Future web-site wiki page access


Q1 of 2013:
=============
We're still ironing our the 2013 launch and meeting schedule, but right now 
it's looking like an first three months! Just in Q1 of 2013, NRVR will have 
two local launches and our big inaugural membership meeting!  


So come on out to the NRV Rocketry meeting, hosted by VT Aerospace, and join 
in on building something great here in the New River Valley!
